Kate neglects to mention that her comments on what it takes to write a spellbinding short story were some of the most helpful, and most listened to, especially by her fellow writers. It requires the ability to tell and story, build characters, and reach a conclusion in few words, which means they have to be chosen carefully. Kate does this in about 1,500 words. She had my complete attention when talking about how this is done.
